Pauline spent her childhood in the violent flatland favela of Maré, in Rio de Janeiro. At an early age she realized that education was the key to improving her life. When the family moved to Paraty she worked hard to be top of her class. Pauline’s goal was to become a teacher in her town. Participation in the BRAYCE program provided the opportunity for Pauline to realize her dreams of building a bright future. Today, she is a junior at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, majoring in Communications and Performance. Last semester she attained the Dean’s List and is a Student Ambassador. At Camp Hazen, Pauline was a stellar counselor and beloved by all. In Paraty, she is a role model to her peer group and an inspiration to her entire community.
