A native of Puerto Rico, Sofia graduated from Brown University in 2012. She had studied at PUC University in Rio in 2008 where she co-produced a documentary on the role of media arts in low-income communities, and translated a documentary for Cinema Nosso, an NGO based in Rio. During the summer of 2012 Sofia worked for BRAYCE in Rio in IBISS’ Meninas Mães (teen mothers) project in the favelas of City of God, Vila Cruzeiro and Terra Encantada. She also visited Paraty and taught a master dance class at Cia. Dança e Arte.
She is still in Rio working for Via Rio, a large and long established NGO, in the area of upcoming new drug legislation.
